The US has the worst maternal health in the developed world. California implemented a near costless checklist protocol and basically got numbers that were close to other industrialized countries. We overstate the differences in health factors compared to provision.
Again, I don’t know what’s controversial here. The US has more violence, more obesity, more socially disconnected people than peer countries. This is going to impact health outcomes regardless of the system. How would it not?

It has an effect, but it is wildly overstated is the point. Uwe Reinhardt, one of the most respected health economists in the world would continually say, "It's the prices, stupid." when discussing this. There are other factors, all secondary if not tertiary.
