Why is that some of the people that have the least to lose from the Trump presidency (ie relatively well off white folks) have some of the most histrionic reactions? Is this performative or is it something deeper? I honestly don’t know

Oh, I believe that some people actually do care about others. But that's best measured by stuff like "actions" rather than "adjective choice".
For example, yesterday I saw a successful white female noveliat Tweet that all red baseball hats made her nervous from afar and that maybe “normal people” should avoid wearing them. That’s the very definition of histrionic.
