I will never be able to understand the dripping skepticism of so many in American media toward social policies that are already in place in virtually every other rich country. Are you saying that we, the richest country in human civilization, are uniquely unable to afford them?
Go live in a public housing project for a year. Send your kids to the locally zoned public school. Go to the closest public hospital. See how we Americans provide social services for the most marginalized of us. And then come back and tell me that I shouldn’t be cynical
