I guess I’m a loon, but the idea that clinical depression is, in every instance, something that just happens to people, independent of life circumstances, and can only be treated by anti-depressants, is way more dangerous than a bit of new age fluff
Saying that some people have a larger set of problems than just some naturally occurring bout of depression is not victim blaming. Why say that things are complex and then immediately over-simplify to black and white?

But psychiatrists/therapists *don’t* say that. They know people with depression often lead more difficult lives due to poverty/being a member of a marginalized group/etc. This literally is not a thing.
