The Bay Area has made me feel the reality of inequality in a way that no other place ever has. It's dystopian. It's Victorian. It's a class society right out of a young adult novel.

Most actual communist societies (as opposed to the utopian socialist fantasy of the current left) have been highly unequal, oligarchies rules by a small group of cadre with an insane level of wealth, personal freedom an power compared to the average citizen
