Anti-depressants are probably overprescribed but taking unnecessary anti-depressants is usually not as bad as not taking them if they do help.
Any spectrum become a binary once you draw a line. So I guess the question is whether contemporary psychology is drawing that line too far over on the spectrum.

Right. In which way are we erring. Or, perhaps, which way is it better to err. It's not the only question (antidepressants aren't always the answer to depression) but it's a big one.
