It’s important because though it carries no moral force, it resonates with a lot of people who resent how ubiquitous they feel the accusation had previously become, and reject without cause it’s use even when warranted. I would just say that I said “how ubiquitous *they feel* it had become.” Are you saying that even the notion that a lot of people out in Racist Country do feel that way os a bolt out of the blue to you?
