It’s important because though it carries no moral force, it resonates with a lot of people who resent how ubiquitous they feel the accusation had previously become, and reject without cause it’s use even when warranted. I don’t get this comment. I don’t know how ubiquitous the claim of racism had become. But it could have grown by twice as much and still been less ubiquitous than actual racism.
