Well then you and I disagree, both about doxxing and what celebrities should and should not be allowed to demand of the press that covers them. No dishonesty.

Beats me. I have no idea what the story Buzzfeed is working on. Do you?

Not at all. Maybe there is a public interest. But your initial comment was basically, that he shouldn’t have any expectation not to be doxxed. I was more responding to that than to the Buzzfeed story that I know nothing about

1/He doesn’t. Look, no one asked him to try to be a celebrity. He made that decision in his own. And hey congrats, now he’s succeeded. And now he gets money and gets to go to the White House. Yay for him. Bit part of what comes with that is not the press is interested in him.

2/ And now he is deciding that he still wants the fame and the money, but he doesn’t want the press finding out anything about him he isn’t comfortable sharing. Which,!you know, wishes and fishes and all, but that’s not the way it works. Nor should it be.

@trumwill, or@burtlikko, any more than I think anyone who isn't legally allowed to get blackout drunk and drive down the freeway is being 'disciplined." Rules are not punishment. Punishment is punishment.2 replies 0 retweets 0 likes
Rules are not punishment. But the action taken to bring someone in line with the rules is disciplinary. Whether it’s punitive depends. I think doxxings tend to be more disciplinary than they are about news value and often end up being punitive. In this case, I guess we’ll see
