      But short of doxxing everyone, if you want to be a world famous shit-poster who asks strangers to send you money so you can try to go from being a E-List celebrity to a D-Lister, don't be such a f**king coward about people maybe finding out who you actually are.

      I can’t say that I care either way, but what the public interest in doxxing this guy? Seems almost purely punitive, in which case we should just admit that the press’ role now includes a disciplinary function

      Oh I think everyone should be doxxed. But if we're talking about this guy, he's a public figure. Don't know what the Buzzfeed story is on so I have no way to judge it, but if you choose to become a public figure, the possibility of the press reporting on you is part of the gig.

      FWIW, I would also add that if you are showing up at White House galas that partly honor you, you are not being "doxxed" if the press writes about you.

      What does that have to do with the underlying principle? Every journalist makes a decision about the news value of a piece of information. How easy or hard to get that piece of information is related, but also tangential to the underlying issue

      Whether doxxing is a matter of public interest or something else, like a way to get clicks or some form of discipline. I say it’s a combination of the latter way more than the former
