I get the part that’s supposed to be ironic, but I have a hard time getting worked up about this. For all we know, this position could be created for a specific person who wants this arrangement but they had to post it publicly first

I'm honestly not worked up. I don't it (including the hypocrisy) amusing. Your theory could be right but I am skeptical better off the industry involved and that it's a low level private sector job so not sure why they would need to pay it.
