Worse, the institutions that are meant to remedy misperceptions, from universities to news outlets, may actually make them worse.

In part, it’s because politicians understand that if they can get you to hate the other side enough, you’re never going to vote them out for not doing the stuff they promised And in part, because politics has become way more about tribal signaling than about policy
