      Blacks poll more socially conservative than whites even when you include white *republican* voters. If ~90% of blacks are democrats, imagine the difference between black dems and white dems!

      Homophobia in the black community is an old problem, but lingered beneath the surface until the first serious gay presidential contender came to the fore. Other theories about Buttigieg’s unpopularity w/blacks don’t seem as plausible to me.

      Don’t think that’s the simplest explanation, as it would require demonstrating that black dems are more homophobic by a wide margin v white dems. Simpler explanation is that Buttigeig’s credentials ring with whites more than blacks
