3/ I hinted about the risks around the forgiveness program, but this woman was very insistent about how she thought the program worked. Mindful of slipping into mansplaining, I dropped it and moved on to something else.
4/ I mention this not as an “I told you so,” or as a defense of being a random know-it-all in a bar. For all I know that woman knew exactly what she was doing and is now one of the few who are eligible for forgiveness.
5/ Rather, it’s just worth noting how our current culture is breeding a certain level of credulity, especially among the people who probably ought to know better. And I have to wonder how much of this is a bug and how much is a feature
