The three most effective gun control measures also happen to be some of the least intrusive and least restrictive. These definitely seem like things that gun rights advocates could live with, if they're in a mood to be level-headed.

“May issue” is probably the most intrusive and restrictive measure. It basically means that you’re not getting a permit unless you’ve got a lot of money to pay the compliance cost or you’re politically connected. See NY or DC
