In your opinion is there anyone who both has a grasp of MMT and is critical of MMT just doesn’t think it’s the appropriate framework to guide our public finances?

Frankly every critic of MMT is such. The create strawman that deliberately misrepresents it and then argue as to why it’s either “silly” or “dangerous”. When you corner them, the end up with - MMT gives politicians too much power with the purse that will destroy the country.
