yeah, and those people occupy small ideological niches far more entrenched than "the MSM." unless we're thinking of different people.
There's probably a lot of 'the media is terrible and therefore I read a variety of pro-am bloggers' (i.e. folks who are amateur journalists, but work in or adjacent to the fields about which they write)

Depends on the people. But for the most part, even ideological practitioners have a modicum of rigor that you don't find on Vox or the NYT opinion page. e.g. I know Razib Khan has an ideology but at least I know what he writes on genetics is grounded in the practice
