Two things that America is almost certainly going to get if we're going to continue as a functional, first-rate economy: 1. Government health care 2. Higher taxes on the rich I don't know exactly *how* these will be implemented, but in some form I think they will be.
1/ Redistribution of land rents is weird is when you look at how people are dealing with housing shortages in real life. Largely, they're just increasing density through back door means. Youngs living with their parents, old living with their kids...

2/ ... renting rooms in single family homes, etc. Much of that would be unnecessary if we stopped zoning so many of our neighborhoods for some ideal single family lifestyle. Redistribute all you want. If you don't change that, there will never be enough decent affordable housing
