Don’t make excuses for this. If Hitler only threw German Jews in concentration camps, he would still be evil.

Certainly! Below is my view. Seems to me a typical social media mob that takes worst possible interpretation -- we all know she's not okay with genocide and doesn't like Hitler.https://twitter.com/maximlott/status/1093960337680986112 …

Maxim LottVerified account @maximlottThe charitable interpretation of@RealCandaceO's remark is NOT that Hitler would be fine if he stayed in Germany -- but rather that he wasn't a real nationalist as he had global ambitions. But some will be eager to call her pro-Hitler because they fear she is effective persuader https://twitter.com/RealCandaceO/status/1093944620025663488 …3 replies 0 retweets 0 likes -

Ah yes, the Hazony view of nationalism . . . which logically comes to the exact conclusion I stated.https://www.cato.org/blog/ridiculous-claims-yoram-hazonys-virtue-nationalism …

I think you and I prob have the same definition. I wasn't aware that *anyone* uses the definition she used. But, confusing definitions of nationalism is extremely different from being ok with Hitler, which is what the mob is accusing her of.

The logical implication of her argument, and Hazony’s, is that Hitler would be ok if he just stayed in Germany. It’s ok to say that nationalism is evil, just like it’s ok to say communism is evil.

Are you sure that is the logical outcome of her argument? If Hitler had stayed in Germany, then the logical outcome of her argument would be that Hitler would have been a nationalist (by her definition.) He would still be evil.

The context was her defending nationalism and nationalists, so yes.

Defending nationalism != defending the worst possible case of nationalism

Candace Owens just defended Hitler’s actions from 1933-1939.

No -- she was making a theoretical argument about nationalism. The context makes clear that she had zero intent to defend Hitler's actions in any period. We both know she opposes his 1933-1939 policies, loves ppl of all races, etc. So ppl should stop the social media mobbing

Her theoretical argument about nationalism was either purposefully ambivalent about what Hitler's version of German nationalism entailed (e.g. lebensraum) or she's just incredibly dumb. I don't know which is worse
