personally i think its only a temporary bandaid. the reason i support stricter border control is so we are forced to fix areas that are clearly running people off. I'd rather help a starving city then tell a person to pack up the whole city and we fix you here.
Weird to frame open borders as a solution imposed from above. Unrestricted movement is what people do and have been doing since hominids stood upright and walked out of East Africa. Migration channels are smarter than our ability to regulate them
