When I cite facts like 60% of blacks w/o college degrees say their race hasn't affected their chances of life success, some people say "Yawn, that's obvious" while others say, "He's denying systemic racism! Burn the heretic!" But how can I be both boring and heretical?
I see it like this: life is complex and multifaceted, but sometimes all that comes together in a compelling narrative. In real life, we are forced to spend most of our time dealing with the complexities. Online is mostly about the signaling value of competing narratives.
