What we’re dealing with now, with QAnon and the Deep State and Trumpism, is just a continual echo of past conspiracy theories that have cover for persecution, fascism, and genocide. It’s one of the oldest tactics in human civilization and it has to be rejected.

Conspiracy theories are about creating in groups and out groups and legitimizing preemptive violence against those on the outside. They vilify and make murderous action a necessity in the face of contagious evil. They’re weapons and we must move beyond them at long last.

Ex Christian - I firmly believe all of humanity’s problems began when Abraham kicked out his mistress and her son.

Not being personally critical, but really it's only Christians, ex-Christians, and people who obsess over Christianity who would say something like that. Do you think Chinese problems began there? Méxica problems? Most of us don't much care what Abraham did.

Humans are not by nature sweet and nice - though we can be. Especially since stratified societies, pogroms, invasions, genocides, etc. are SOP for humans. IMO, we have to look at ourselves clearly, nasty and all, to have any hope of managing ourselves.

We’re a relatively new species. Don’t know if we’ll last long enough to work out the bugs.
