THE PEOPLE ARE GOING TO RISE is now available. Chronicles how Trump came to power and what fueled his ugly movement

  2. Maybe if conservatives had been less concerned with cursing and lyrics in music, characters’ behavior on TV, the activities of people in their private bedrooms, they might have noticed the total corrosion and rot of their party as it was coopted and corrupted.

  3. So. Maybe the real problem isn’t the curse, it’s the fact we have a dangerously incompetent and compromised president and maybe that all this puritanical pearl clutching instead of worrying about real and honest problems is what got us into this mess in the first place.

  4. I can’t even begin to imagine how much of our collective brainpower and energy is dedicated anymore to just trying to understand what exactly Donald Trump is attempting to talk about on a daily basis.

Ryan will be held as the main figure in Randian thinking who pushed the scam so far it couldn’t be hidden. Couldn’t happen to a more contemptible figure.

History is going to be incredibly unkind to Ryan, who’ll be judged for his cruelty and capitulation to Trump. He’ll be the face of a Republican Party that sold out completely and still failed to achieve.

It feels so much better knowing Paul Ryan isn’t a part of the government. Like, so much better.

It's really, truly something that Trump has over-leveraged himself on this wall fight and has practically cornered himself and that he still manages to see himself like this.

Watching this diverse and historic Congress being sworn in today it’s hard to imagine we aren’t in for some major changes.

The 115th Congress was an indictment of our system of government, a testament to how little the people are represented and how deep the rot of moneyed persuasion runs. Let’s all hope the 116th can redeem the body a little.

This statement on campaign coverage by Chris Hayes is beyond commendable. Following the 2016 debacle it’s time to look in the mirror and change how we treat politics in this country. This is how that starts.

Watching Donald Trump’s incoherent comments this afternoon and anyone who isn’t worried about this man’s mental fitness for office is totally in denial.

In a party that was at least somewhat functional they’d be fighting over who got the chance instead of whispering behind closed doors. But a somewhat functional party would’ve never birthed or embraced Donald Trump.

When I've asked them if they've already fatally anchored themselves to Trump they always bring up Nixon and the party surviving his downfall. It almost always ends with a nod toward Nixon.

There's a growing feeling in circles that Trump won't survive the Mueller Investigation and his sinking could take the GOP down with him. Some think jettisoning him off before it comes down could be one of the few moves remaining.

The Republicans I've talked to in the past couple of days all point to members of the party discussing the possibility of primary-ing Trump, which they understand would mean an election loss but possibly a reboot of the GOP. The language is consistently buying and selling.

I’d feel exponentially better if every Republican who challenged Trump didn’t do so at the most opportune time or when polls sank. Or, you know, inbetween pathetic attempts to court his favor.

I think about this all the time and all I can come up with is that the far right only succeeds if it convinces people to accept a very simple narrative/myth and not think any deeper because if it’s scrutinized it just falls to pieces.

The struggle is between people who believe in the religion of American exceptionalism, the people who use that belief as a means to manipulate and profit, and the rest of us who just want this country to finally live up to its founding principles.

  21. I watched her with Clinton in Ohio and she took it to Trump better than anyone. She relished that fight. But it’s unclear if the Democratic Primary will end up being who can go after him the hardest, who can inspire, or who can best do both.
