WH adviser Stephen Moore: "My message to the White House is: 'If you want to lose the election, extend the $600 unemployment benefit'"

Moore's argument is that the UI benefits discourage work & therefore keep unemployment high, hurting economy overall Polling has found ~60% of Americans want benefits extended. 1 study found they helped poverty fall in April https://twitter.com/JStein_WaPo/status/1274870828467990532 …https://twitter.com/jstein_wapo/status/1267428650145775616 …

You calling the conversation over whether or not I have rent money a “battle royale” is a little minimizing.

With states closing jobs down again it needs to be extended

When $600 is enough to keep you from working, the worker is not being paid enough.

The $600/week is $2400/month and it is on top of your state’s UI benefits. I’d make $1400 more/month right now in my state if I were on UI (MN has up to 75% benefit) and I am a teacher.

The Democrats need to make this a huge campaign issue. If GOP refuses to extend, hit them over the head with it in November. Hire the Project Lincoln people to make the commercials.

But giving away 600 million dollars to their friends without transparency is ok with him.

I’ll tell you a way to loose an election. Take away unemployment benefits to 25 million Americans who jobs are still closed or not operating at full capacity and see how that goes
