More of this, please!!!! Fascinating. I would love to make a film about the gathering of the Commonwealth (Imperial still - just) soldiers. How they got on etc etc - the sheer numbers boggle the mind
indeed! interesting fact from a friend, that the 'Indian Army were banned by the Indian Govt to attend... but the triservice organised a peace deligation, very little of which is known, or spoken about, given it was not officially sanctioned'

Well, so soon after Independence was a complicated time - so these stories are just all the more illustrative of that time of changing relationships between Britain, India, East and West Pakistan - I’m fascinated by all this
