    Wonderful man. Remember well the day many years ago when Skip told me what a great defensive third baseman Puddin’ Head Jones was. Great memory from Memory Lane. RIP, good man.

    Sad news from my colleagues at the Philadelphia Sports Writers Association - Skip "Memory Lane" Clayton has passed away (Saturday, Dec. 11th). A good writer, a good man who will be missed - especially by Phillies fans of a certain age. RIP.

    Re: RHP Cam Bedrosian's minor-league contract with Phillies. Yes, he has the service time to be a big-league free agent. He came off Phils' 40-man roster after season and signed a minor-league deal to return to org before the big-league lockout. Deal wasn't announced until Tues.

    Thrilled for Jim Kaat. 283 wins, 16 Gold Gloves. A class man and baseball gentleman.

    JUST SAYING: So happy for Jim (Kitty) Kaat’s selection to the HOF. Enjoyed being with him during his time with Phillies, 1976-79. He won 283 games; 33 pitchers in the HOF won fewer. On the BBWAA ballot for 15 years (1989-2003) but never elected. Why did he have to wait so long?

    Dick Allen is up for Hall of Fame again Sun. Missed by 1 vote last time. Lots of good vibes this time. Both his brothers, Hank and Ron, played in big leagues. Ron's only hit was a HR for Cardinals in 1972. Replaced Joe Torre at 1B in B8 and went deep in T9 in 3-2 loss at SD.
