HANDS UP: I re-did my math from the very beginning on a county-by-county basis. Found some small math errors that have changed things, my mistake.
I now have with 153,070 votes. at 151,125 votes.
The gap is actually 1,945 votes in #NY22

I apologize for the minor errors, obviously 2000 votes in a race of this margin is huge. But I’m a journalist, and I believe in holding people accountable. Especially when it’s myself. After checking extensively, I am now certain these are the most accurate numbers in the nation.

Seems like a good time to plug that changes in NY election law would help avoid these mistakes!! No reason these updates shouldn’t be posted publicly and aggregated, especially more than 2 weeks after the election.

I get an email at the end of every day with an updated absentee count. Same thing on Election Night. Unfortunately they’re not posted publicly.
