Your problem is planning, James. You dont have to fold them if you coordinate washing them in the am and putting them right back on the bed (before nap time). 
With lots more folding of laundry during quarantine, there have been two divergent paths. My sock matching skills have become Olympic level. But my folding of fitted sheets have become negative if that’s possible.

forget folding sheets of any kind - take them off, wash them, but them right back on. Laundry my least favorite household chore ....I sympathize
