This SCOTUS ruling did not gut the VRA. It addressed partisan, not racial gerrymandering. Racial gerrymandering can still be challenged in federal courts. After this ruling, the only avenue for challenging partisan gerrymandering will be state courts.

Don't get me wrong, it's still a bad ruling, but individual states can still fight this.
