I will admit I have said worse and not gotten penalized. And I’ve also been given a “soft warning” by the ump where they tell you knock it off or I will have to give you a violation. He should have at least given her that courtesy. Sad to mar a well played final that way.https://twitter.com/ramonashelburne/status/1038554172637892608 …

Would be nice if some of Serena’s male counterparts had her back and admitted they’ve said a lot worse to the umpire. I know I’ve heard A LOT worse from NBA players directed at refs.

What have you said worse, when and to whom, James? She did call him a liar.

Happy to tell you off the record and not in public. Obviously not my proudest moments on court.

Incredible that men on here are oblivious to the conduct of other male players. Is it really such news that Serena was treated differently to how men are treated in the same situation?

This a great point Janes! You weren’t proud of that moment but Serena is proud of throwing a fit in her moment. She should’ve gotten over the initial violation and played tennis. Maybe she could’ve come back. Focus should be on Osaka!

If it was with this umpire then I agree he's sexist. But I saw him giving warning to Novak and to Nadal. Maybe there is a reason that he is one of the best umpires.

Enough said, unable to say publicly! Please stand with Serena, she is fighting for equality & justice. She is the greatest tennis player ever, stand up & speak up for her James.

I so appreciate your honesty. I think Serena has had it with racist remarks, she has been drug tested more than most players in tennis I have read ....Yes she was angry...but honestly...what would you do. We all act too perfect. Until life happens.

Plus she was never accused of "cheating". She recieved a warning for coaching, it doesn't matter if she asked for it or even if she saw it. Demanding an apology over and over when she was wrong, and even involving her daughter was out of line. Can we at least agree on that?
