I will admit I have said worse and not gotten penalized. And I’ve also been given a “soft warning” by the ump where they tell you knock it off or I will have to give you a violation. He should have at least given her that courtesy. Sad to mar a well played final that way.https://twitter.com/ramonashelburne/status/1038554172637892608 …

Disagree, all the double faults & unforced errors weren’t Osaka’s making. Serena played even 50% of what she’s capable of and it’s a walk in the park for her, she just didn’t show up to her usual levels.

You were a great player to look at James. A true sportsman. But Serena crossed the line. Too much abuse toward the umpire. Ramos had to do this.

Lol abuse??? Where did she curse at him? Where did she threaten him? Asking for an apology is abuse? Just say you hate when a black women stands up for herself. Your lane like the guy in the chair

Boy oh boy the mental gymnastics some people will go through to find a way to cast Serena negatively.

And you're exactly right! Serena playing fairly well- maybe not her best, but mainly the result of the pressure Osaka brought. Something Serena has rarely faced in her career-a player who can match her power and range. Serena did not handle the mental challenge-instead excuses.

Then why is this whole us open outcome about Serena's mistreatment and not about Osaka's brilliant play?
