I will admit I have said worse and not gotten penalized. And I’ve also been given a “soft warning” by the ump where they tell you knock it off or I will have to give you a violation. He should have at least given her that courtesy. Sad to mar a well played final that way.https://twitter.com/ramonashelburne/status/1038554172637892608 …

Osaka played great. She earned it. But not because Serena played poorly. Osaka forced that with the way she played.

Yeah, Serena didn’t play poorly. Osaka played like a boss and kept her head through all the drama. Yes, the ump could have warned but Serena has got to own her emotional reaction to the accurate coaching warning.

The fact that she found it so insulting—and I get it—isn’t Ramos’ fault. But I agree with
@PHShriver that he could have diffused the situation. Not for Serena, but for the game, for th championship match.

Indeed, Mr. Blake. Osaka was out-playing Serena. Serena? Her 1st-serve percentage excepting, was playing well.
-
But Serena, who I admire and respect, should Not have kept feeding Osaka pace; she didn't change it up. Osaka thrives off of pace. But, let's be frank, 'bad c all' or no (it was), Serena lost the mental battle: she lost her Poise.

@JRBlake I don’t know why when it comes to@serenawilliams people feel they must take unnecessary digs at her. A baby almost dying 2 GSF all in a year sounds like Champion to me.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
