    Reflecting on how COVID has changed transportation so far. What sticks out to me is the sheer number of experiments cities are doing right now. Notoriously hard-won things (sidewalk expansions, bike lanes) are being OK-ed in days/wks 🤯 not months/yrs.

    Paul Cary drove his ambulance from Colorado to , to help here at the peak of the pandemic. He had already signed up for another tour, when he fell ill with . He died on Thursday, at age 66. Mr. Cary is a hero to all New Yorkers.

    There just aren’t beds. Don’t mistake sending a ship or building a field hospital as remedying the situation. It’s a full on a crisis and people are dying. The hospital system was not built to handle this. The state needs help.

    Thread My friend’s 73 yr old mother went to the ER at Interfaith in Brooklyn at 6pm last night. She’s now been sitting in a chair in the ER for 29 hours waiting for a bed. She has a bad cough, a fever and violent chills. She calls her daughter crying pain and fear.
