East Jefferson Parish (New Orleans suburbs) used to have some of the most GOP precincts in the state. It was 26% Obama in 2008; @SenLandrieu was from the region, & had a Katrina boost, and got 44%. Wait, why is it called East Jefferson if it's in the northwestern part of the Parish?

the MS river is to its south, so technically its in the part of the county east of the Mississippi river (as opposed to the Westbank, to the south).

Thanks for the info! East Jeff was all Democratic at one time and we need to turn it back that way with fresh strong Democratic leadership from citizens in the parish that don't just reside in minority districts....We need some white Democratic leadership in the parish too!!
