Devastating. He spoke with just days ago from his hospital bed: “If the officials had disclosed information about the epidemic earlier...I think it would have been a lot better. There should be more openness & transparency.” He and his wife were expecting a 2nd child

Turns out, *this* was the biggest story of Iowa. Bernie's team showed up for union, night-shift, immigrant, non-English speaking voters – exactly the kind of folks at the front lines of the climate emergency – and they showed up for him.

On Monday, many people who have never voted at all participated in an election for the first time by taking part in a time-consuming and arcane process that people like to brag is incomprehensible to outsiders.

It bothers me so much that after they took the leap of faith to believe in the process and show up, their voices have STILL not been heard three days later. At the same time, these images have made me more hopeful about the future of our movement than anything has in a long time.

Holy shit Bernie raised $25 million in January. For perspective, that’s more than Biden, Buttigieg, or Warren raised in the last three months of 2019.

For those curious, this implies that there are minimum 5.6 SDEs in CD-1. But if it's like CD-2 or CD-3 (which have the same partisan lean) you would expect double or triple. But I'm told there were less satellite caucuses there so who knows.

Based on the 3 other districts, you’d guess that Sanders will get a huge % in the IA-1 satellite caucus. Assuming he does, the key to watch is turnout. If it’s 600 or less, only 5.6 SDEs are distributed. If it’s 601-1,200, then 11.2 are. Could make all the difference for Sanders.

My apologies for miscalculating/underestimating the impact satellites could have on the SDE count. Try hard on here to make sense of election returns quickly, but this IA count has posed some...unique challenges, to say the least.

Bernie Sanders’ Iowa state director sent a memo to aides tonight that says they “have a viable path forward to achieve a clean sweep and retake the lead in state delegate equivalents and national pledged delegates.” She also says staff have been working to confirm results.

These satellite caucuses were organized by and for black and brown, working class, immigrant communities, filled with folks who had never voted, hoping that this time, something might be different. If that isn't the political revolution, I don't know what is.

Bernie is going to win because he was literally the only candidate to reach out to Muslim, poor black, and Latino communities in Iowa
