Adding link to thread where I explained my reasons why this kind of "we can pay our way out of planetary cataclysm" cost-benefit estimation is pure bunkum.https://twitter.com/JKSteinberger/status/1341779395099451392 …

Apologies to all you ethical folks of the twitter who aren't voting because you're not climate scientists! You're the best. Here's where results stand. (PS option 1 only picked up votes after Lomborg RT-ed the poll, fwiw

Where's the "there won't be any humans for an economy at 8C" button?
Kiitos. Käytämme tätä aikajanasi parantamiseen. KumoaKumoa

I chose the third option, because I believe there would technically still be an economy (humans would not actually be extinct), but the impact would certainly be much larger than 4%.

Hi Robert. I didn't mention "no humans" - I mentioned no economy. There is a difference.

Ans4, assuming 8deg refers to global mean deltaT (I didn’t read the paper: its holidays!)

Absolutely outrageous. Forget economy, at 8°C of global heating I doubt there's any civilization unless this countspic.twitter.com/jLu4fTScrv

I don’t think we have enough data to understand what the impact of 8C would be in detail. That’s at “climate of everywhere likely changes enough to render existing political and population distribution meaningless “ levels, but needs more specifics. Does any icecap remain?...

If we let this happen I suspect every farmer on the planet would have to either change their business model or find other work. No, we really have no clue what this would entail, except I'd invest in geoengineering.
