    In my experience, U.S. intel agencies consider the intercepted internal discussions of adversaries who have been offered nothing as dispositive of what they might accept in a negotiation where they are offered something.

  7. Unless “US intel agencies” are now negotiating with the Taliban and regional powers and actually have probed the possibility of an extension to withdrawal timing, I don’t believe they’re in a position to assess this. *Diplomats* need to probe and assess this.

    A local paper citing anonymous sources reports that Mullah Hibatullah along with head of Taliban's financial committee and military chief were killed months back by a blast in Pakistan.
