    In what was builded as a bullpen game, both closers, 2 o& the best in the game, give up 2-run 9th inning bombs. That’s more of what what makes baseball compelling.

    With win, stand alone in 2 big areas. 1. M’s are the only franchise to win 116 games on field (2001). 1906 also had 116 wins, but one was a forfeit. And 2. M’s are the only active franchise never to have made it to a Workd Series. Congrats, Nationals

    Seriously impressive research from Mike Selleck to underscore a seriously impressive season for Marcus Semien. I don’t think either of the others played much shortstop.

    Below is a list of players in Major League history with at least 116 runs, 173 hits, 38 doubles, 7 triples, 30 home runs, 85 RBI, 78 walks and 10 stolen bases in a season: Babe Ruth (1921 and 1923) Lou Gehrig (1927 and 1930) Marcus Semien (2019)

    If anyone wants to know what it feels like to fall on that dirt in Oakland Coliseum: Go outside right now, sprint as fast as you can in the middle of the street, once you get to full speed jump up as high as you can and belly flop on the pavement.

    After striking out 19 times last night. batters have fanned 10 times through 6 innings today while trailing 3-1. The Tigers' top strikeout total for back-to-back 9 inning games this year is 32, if you're keeping track, & I'm not sure why you would be.

    Christin Stewart gets on the board against LHP Sean Manaea. Stewart leads off top/5th with a solo homer to dead center, his 9th homer of the season and second of the series. A's still up 3-1.

    Drew VerHagen is pitching for to start the fourth inning with up 1-0. Tigers are monitoring starter Daniel Norris' innings closely. Today was his sixth consecutive start of exactly three innings. He gave up one hit and one run.
