Many who tweeted about my father today would have hated him 50 years ago. He was for the eradication of poverty and caring for poor people. No human was an alien to him because he believed this is a World House. And he asserted that inequality in healthcare is most inhumane.

When church history is being written fifty years from now, I don’t see how white American evangelicalism *as a movement* escapes being described as explicitly or tacitly racist. Readers will think, how did these Christians not know how wrong they were?

Martin Luther King Jr was a radical. If he were alive today, his words would threaten most of those who now sing his praises. My latest via :

Every1 wants a strong woman until she actually stands up, flexes her muscles & projects her voice. Suddenly, she is too much. She has forgotten her place. You love these women as as ideas, fantasies. Not as breathing, human threatening to be even better.

Winnie Madikizela-Mandela has died. Her legacy is, shall we say, complex. I suspect that life was even harsher on her than it was on her former husband.

He was a facilitator of true peace (“not merely the absence of tension; it is the presence of justice”). He admonished “white moderates” for being “more devoted to order than to justice.” More pressed about order than about justice? That’s not . Justice yields peace.

The ol’ freedom of speech defence they fought hard at with Bill Leak, Andrew Bolt, Prue McSween and all the other White people, sure goes out the window when it comes to Black people, doesn’t it?

Serious question: are you honestly, genuinely shocked that your Facebook data is being used in the ways we’re beginning to hear about?
