There are a lot of reasons
But one of them is my day job

I get enough of that as it is and would rather publish something I believe in

I was in marketing for several years. I hated it because it sucked out all my creative juices & left none for writing. Nope, nope, nope

I write to keep myself creative and motivated, as well as all the random things I do on social media :)

That works out well, then. Writing for me is like a vocation. If I don't do it, I come a little unspooled. Marketing just doesn't cut it.

Same here. Writing has always kept me centered and focused on what matters :) 12 books in and just getting started lol

Not to mention the horrible contracts traditional publishers give new authors, the way they still treat books like produce (3 weeks on the shelf and it's gone), & no author support unless you can make 6 or 7 figures right out of the gate, for less than 10% of the cover.

Indeed and a half. It's a pretty crappy deal in many things. It's like, hello Hollywood! We're cheaper to deal with!!! :)
