We pay to HAVE health insurance and pay to USE it. All to have them pull this during the most stressful and scariest times in our lives. Insurance companies are in it to profiteer off us. Universal Healthcare is much more important to all of us, Medicare is also horribly broken. That it's less broken than the private insurance system does not make it the best possible solution, which must be our goal, not more half-measures.

They call it Medicare for All, but they don't mean the current Medicare system. The M4A proposals transform Medicare into a full fledged insurance program that covers pretty much everything in addition to expanding it to all Americans.

My old private insurance refused to pay for my hospital visit last year due to a life-threatening blood clot. My doctor made me go directly from her office to the hospital but my insurance refused to pay. Profit has no place in health care.

We can’t let this continue. We need to abolish them all on day one that everyone is covered and the system is flowing (in about 5-6 years). But literally first act of that Congress...BYE private health insurance.

You’re right that we need Medicare for all, but it’s not because insurance companies. The actual problem is hospitals and expensive doctors.

Except insurance companies are a large part of the reason doctors and hospitals are so expensive. The Ins Cos demand big discounts, so clinics and hospitals jack up the prices of everything, then discount that.
