A student today told me that people were chalking (anti-Israel) messages on his campus that were highly offensive to him and asked what he could do about it. I gave him a box of chalk and told him to chalk his own message in response.

I’ve read about mobs threatening speakers like ⁦⁩, but hoped Yale would be different. It wasn’t. ⁦⁩ of ⁦⁩ reports on my visit. I’m thankful for the students who invited me & can’t wait to return.

Great piece by my friend here. On campus, off campus, wherever - you don't have free speech if you can't decide who speaks for you. That's what's at issue here. Freedom of assembly/association is a crucial and underappreciated right.

This gets the analogy exactly backwards. Brown overturned Plessy (58 yrs later), thus restoring basic human rights. Now Dobbs can overturn Roe (49 yrs later) and restore the basic principle that life is a human right. This analogy was also expressly discussed at SCOTUS oral arg.
