Hundreds of amicus briefs are filed every term. Justices never have quarantined themselves from coming into contact socially with members of groups who are amici.

In the past 7 weeks alone, for example, Justices Kagan, Sotomayor, and Ginsburg have participated in 7 events with or hosted by amici curiae in one case or another. That's a lot closer to endorsing those groups and people than Alito and Kavanaugh visiting a group on a DC tour.

I'm not saying those other justices need to recuse for such conduct - that has never been the standard and it'd be unworkable given the number of cases and amici before the Court each term. But liberal activists like
@TakeBacktheCt need to be called out on their double standards.Show this thread -
Another Ginsburg event to add to the list: Justice Ginsburg spoke at Amherst one day before Amherst filed as amicus in the DACA case. Ginsburg delivered the address with the President of the school who has made hay over DACA. https://www.amherst.edu/news/news_releases/2019/10-2019/justice-ruth-bader-ginsburg … https://www.amherst.edu/campuslife/federal-policy-changes-information-and-resources …

They keep coming - Kagan's 8/23 appearance with Erwin Chemerinsky wasn't just at his institution (Berkeley) whose governing board is a named party in the DACA litigation, but he is both an amicus in a crim law case and arguing a different civil rights case at SCOTUS next week!

Should RBG recuse from every case where the ACLU files an amicus?

Cool. Kagan can no longer hear any cases involving Obama Administration actions, including DACA/DAPA. Ginsburg can no longer hear any cases brought by the ACLU.

There are different standards for conservatives. Don't you know that?

Thanks for the article. A friend posted Benton’s article on FB. Now I can refute it. BTW, NOM was labeled a hate group in the article. I never heard of NOM.
