    Traffic on Surrey Research Park for the past 2 weeks is an absolute joke. It routinely takes 2 hours to get to the exit roundabout, a journey of less than half a mile. No accidents, no roadworks - what’s going on?!

    Explainer on & : When a processor reaches a conditional branch in code (e.g. an 'if' clause), it tries to predict which branch will be taken before it actually knows the result. It executes that branch ahead of time - a feature called "speculative execution".

    Test the real-world performance yourself before you make the decision not to patch. The performance impact will differ depending on precise workload, so each use case will differ.

    This 30% number is down right dangerous. It’s a worst case scenario and seems rather unlikely for your very day use but people are taking it as “this is the real cost” and aren’t going to patch.

    Very important note with Windows Server patch for Meltdown - it is NOT enabled by default, even after installation. You need to manually enable it per Server if you need the protection.

    It’s far too early to tell if anyone has already weaponised or yet, but you can bet that there are nation state APTs figuring it out as we speak. Expect a weaponised version in the next 2-3 weeks, if not sooner.

    Please can we come up with a better name for Business Email Compromise? The word Compromise wrongly attributes the threat - a compromise can be defended with technology, whereas most BEC cases are a people/process issue.
