OP clearly isnt talking abt someone who wants to protect you. They're talking abt "friends" who seek to control you. Like they literally said "watch out for everyone" not "watch out for those trying to hurt you"
Or maybe a persons natural urges as a friend have nothing to do with their love or character and maybe just maybe some people are shit and will hurt you no matter what they say or how they act prior
