Failing experiments is necessary in order to shape an accurate hypothesis. You cannot get the data without prior failure, therefore = failing is as equally important as succeeding. Cheer up! 🙆🏻‍♀️💫

If you’re humble enough to know that your dissertation has many limitations...you’re going to be a really good scientist! ⭐️

People will always judge you, if you think about it, they are not very good at it. All you can do is: 1. Don’t be concerned about what others think 2. You don’t need to please everyone 3. Be yourself and feel good about it!

Regardless of perceived hierarchy, it's important that we treat everyone with the same amount of respect. Academia focuses heavily on labels, "big" names, awards etc. but remember that no person is inherently better than any other person. I try to see the human being first.

A gentle reminder to all of you doing your PhDs/Postdocs/tenure-tracks and feeling a bit...”out of yourself”: “Madness, in the higher sense, is the beginning of all wisdom.” -Herman Hesse Stay strong!! 💪⭐️

When submitting a paper, how do you feel about identifying a non-preferred reviewer? If the paper is strong, no need to name anyone, on the other hand..I understand it is sometimes necessary. What do you think?

Networking is pushed as the key to opportunity despite that many networking spaces put people from minority groups at a disadvantage. Those in positions of power need to recognise that giving opportunity to people that most resemble you isn't networking, it's discrimination.

What do you think about putting science first and formatting later? My worst Journal shopping and peer-review experience

We sacrifice a lot by moving away for our degrees. Time feels like it moves faster back home, leaving me in the past, kinda like that scene in Interstellar. This has been one of the most difficult things to accept during my PhD.

Whenever gets tough and relationships breakdown you learn a few lessons: 1) Keep your circle small 2) Always remind yourself of why you went to grad school in the first place 3) never compromise who you are and or forget where you came from.

Which time management techniques you find useful during your paper or dissertation writing? How do you cope with “securing time” to write and how much time daily or weekly do you really think you need?
