So apparently your voice can be copyright claimed on YouTube. I was testing my mic filters on a private stream and after I was done it got claimed by CD Baby.

It's really CD Baby you need to go after, not YouTube. YouTube is just doing what they are asked to do, by CD Baby. If you think people at YouTube judge each claim, think again.

It’s YouTube’s policy that is wrong tho. People make content, and then it’s falsely claimed by someone else. The abuser can just keep claiming it’s theirs until the only course of action is for the creator to take the disputer to court.

And on top of that, after 3 failed claims, you get a strike which can effect your ability to live stream and use other YouTube functions. The policy is backwards as hell.

AND THEN when you take the disputer to court, you have to often times fight a corporation who has infinitely more money and resources than you with the ability to take all of your money via lawyer fees by extending the court proceedings for years if they feel like it.

Good, hard-working people are getting dicked over big time because of an ass-backwards policy with no repercussions for false copywright claims, and negligence on YT's part. It seems like such a hopeless, frustrating situation to be in

There needs to be a internet content creators union. A minimal membership fee would create a huge budget for legal protection if enough joined. You can join and leave at any time, but if you need legal council within the first 6 months, you need to pay for 6 months. Easy

I honestly don't think YouTube will be the ones to do anything about this policy as long as the money is still flowing. They'll start to care when people leave them for Twitch. It feels like that's already happening

Flowing? YouTube operates at a near $200 million loss annually. But regardless something does need to be done.
