Also worth noting that gambling laws are NOT harmonised across the EU. Banning loot boxes in Europe = not easily done.

Yeah, that was my thought too. I think these rulings should be examined on a game by game basis, like for example, Overwatch; with it's excellent and totally fair implementation.
