3) The "best" film may be an absolute nightmare to work on and the "lame" film may be a joy that catapults your skills to the next level. Build your career around the relationships you forge and the artistic journey you take. Choosing a gig based on prestige alone is a trap.

Across the Spiderverse was the hardest project I ever worked on. I never was this challenged before. I truly admire the resilience of the team, pushing it through. It was so hard had to quit midway. Going to see it at the theater with my mom. The little boy in me still feel proud

Do you think studios will move to preventing artists from sharing all production work as the AI dragnet gets ever bigger? Terrifying thought for professional artists.

People ask me why I only make brushes. A huge part of it is because I respect the people there and their values line up with mine. Oh and the brush engine is amazing of course.

We have no plans to introduce AI image generation or other AI-based generative tools, as current data collection and usage practices common in AI engines aren't in-line with our values.

will be a limit enforced across the board in the future of how many consecutive years artists can table. The same artists filling up CTN tables every single year made the event quite predictable and created a weird have/have not culture so I applaud the concept with

I know meeting big artists is a big draw for the event, but I'm sure a lot of artists are feeling slighted after getting bumped for a rule that doesn't apply to everyone. Its impossible to make everyone happy at conventions as there's only enough space, but I wonder if there...

Studio execs are increasingly worried about the potential for additional strikes from the DGA and SAG-AFTRA. If those negotiations go sour enough to reach work stoppages, the film industry would suffer a total shutdown. bit.ly/3Vpg5Rm

This article truly reflects the conversations I’ve had with students and folks who wish to make a living out of art. Those who are starting out see this tech clearly, as theft tools that do not hope to assist but to replace the artists it steals from.

Here’s an artist tip I wish I knew when I started: 🔸Prepare for a nomadic lifestyle Getting in the door is one thing, keeping a job is another. You’ll move from show to show, test to freelance to staff. Projects last from days to weeks to months and if you’re lucky, years.
