"When people talk about the need for empathy, they often only mean 'empathy for me,'" @IrshadManji says.
"Do you also bring empathy to the person who actually did not know what blackface is?"
Don't just try to change minds, "ask: 'What am I missing about the other person?'"pic.twitter.com/Y0E07vgSAo

I’m an Army veteran, I have more than enough experience with people all over the country & world. One of my roommates & good friends was a White guy from Wisconsin, who had no experience with minorities. Occasionally, he would say something he shouldn’t and get corrected.

The difference is the context and delivery. Most of these people wearing Blackface are intending to caricature Black people & thought it was a good idea. Whether Jerry Lewis doing it of Asians or Whites doing it of Native Americans in film. It doesn’t change offense.

Nope. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck...it’s a duck
The emotional violence a black person experiences when confronted with blackface is jarring to the head and heart
All those who indulge in such behaviour should be prepared to be held to account
